Types of Transportation
There are many means of public transport in the Philippines, but the most common of these — and the most convenient — is the ubiquitous jeepney. It is also one of the cheapest means of transportation here. It is the most convenient because, for the most part, you can go wherever you want in a jeepney and pay the standard fare of seven pesos. (This rate applies to city destinations; when one goes from the city to another town, the fare increases in proportion to the distance.) The jeepney is an expression of Filipino creativity and ingenuity. The history of the jeepney dates back to World War II where the jeeps left by the American military were converted by the Filipinos into public vehicles. The design of the American jeep was then modified by Filipinos to be able to carry more passengers to a destination.

Jeepney
The tricycle is another means of transportation. This three-wheeled vehicle is common in the outskirts of cities and towns. There is also the motorbike that functions like a taxi. The motorbike can take passengers anywhere in the city, including remote and inaccessible places. And then, there is the taxi. The taxi is one of the most convenient and comfortable means of transportation, with its air-conditioning and built-in stereo. The taxi can take you to most places in the Philippines.
Because the price of gasoline has sky-rocketed so fast, people have started to cut cost with their gas expenses. In fact, more people now walk if the distance of the place they are going does not exceed two kilometres. Another good option is using a bicycle to get to work. However, it will take some time for Cebuanos to use the bicycle for this purpose. Since Cebuanos are used to the convenience of having good access to public transport vehicles, walking to a destination or biking will take some time to gain popularity with Cebuanos.
Foreigners, however, like to walk the streets of Cebu. In the city proper, there are no buses and MRTs, but you can still choose to ride the jeepney, which is the most common way of commuting, or opt for a more comfortable ride in a taxi. If you stay in the best hotels, they will provide transportation for you at an added cost.
